Don Cowan, Director

NCCP National Level Coach. Certified, Partial 4/5. 30 years + coaching experience with skaters reaching Nationals. In those 30+ years I have worked with skaters reaching National Level Competitions with Provincial Champions in SK, MB, and AB. eg. Tomorrow's Champions, Junior Nationals, National U10 Youth Camp.

Eighth Figure, Gold Freeskate, Gold Dance, Junior Competitive Singles and Dance, Novice Competitive Pairs, and National Competitor. AB Team Coach for Canada Winter Games 2007(Whitehorse,YK), 2011(Halifax,NS)) AB Team Coach Mentor Coach Level 1 and 2. NCAP World Figure Skating Championships, London 2013. Other; Professional Powerskating Instructor Jr/Pro Am level experience, AB, BC(Enderby, Salmon Arm, Comox, Powell River). Owner/Operator of Potential Specialized Hockey Programs(13 yrs). Deb Lyon

NCCP National Level Coach. Certified. 30+ years coaching and developing skaters with Provincial Competitive Coaching, National & International experience. Currently developing and managing figure skaters from the ground up by implementing a structured training environment and team coaching within a positive atmosphere. Focusing on Competitive Singles Freeskate, development of Pre-Star to Gold in all disciplines, Low and High Dance, Skills and Freeskate test coaching. Novice singles competition with Gold Test accredited in Skills & Dance. Zone Team Coach at Alberta Winter Games and Regional Coaching Representative for many years. Specialized in the CPC System & current Competitive & StarSkate Technical Requirements and STAR 1-5 Testing and implementation. Currently mentoring and assisting with the Regional Coaches Training Program. Formal Education includes a Bachelors degree in Science and Bachelors degree in Education.



Lauren McCoy, Ph.D.

NCCP National Coach In-Training (partial Level 3), Certified Provincial Coach (Level 2), CanPowerSkate Certified & Registered Provisional Psychologist.                  12 years professional coaching experience at all levels from PreCanSkate to Gold test recipients. Coach/choreographer of Alberta STARSkate Championship medalists. 2019 Skate Canada Challenge Coach Apprenticeship Program participant. Successfully completed Gold Freeskate, Gold Dance, Gold Skating Skills, and Gold Interpretive tests. Gr. 8 Royal Conservatory Piano & Advanced Rudiments in Musical Theory (formerly Rudiments II). 

Lauren integrates her unique professional knowledge of psychology into the coaching and development of the athletes that she works with. Lauren recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Counselling Psychology (University of Calgary) and completed a doctoral level residency at the University of Alberta. Lauren has completed a Master of Science degree in Counselling Psychology (thesis-based; University of Calgary) and Bachelor of Science degree with Specialization in Psychology & Industrial Internship (University of Alberta). Lauren is also a registered provisional psychologist in the province of Alberta and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor. Her Masters and doctoral research focused on athletic career transition experiences of elite athletes. Lauren has also developed a series of sport psychology seminars and has facilitated these seminars for groups of figure skating athletes across Alberta. Lauren strives to blend her coaching experience with specialized knowledge of mental skills to develop individualized strategies that help each skater maximize their potential - both on and off the ice.

Jadene Ferreira

Co-Founder, Creative Director BA Psychology, York University 2006 A National Level Choreographer since 2003, Jadene has cultivated her own unique approach to figure skating choreography and delivery of content to skaters across Canada. Alexa Arrotta

NCCP Level 1 Certified + CanFitPro Personal Trainer. As a Former Senior National Ice Dancer, stroking, edges, and choreography are Alexa’s strength and passion. Graduating from York University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities/Child Studies, and also a CanFitPro Personal Trainer, Alexa has an immense amount of knowledge when it comes to skaters and what is needed mentally and physically. Former Skate Canada Junior National Ice Dance Team and Alternate for Junior Worlds, Top 6 at Senior Canadian Nationals, Former FreeSkater, and competed Nationally from 2007-2013. Having trained at world renown facilities like Mariposa, Lyon France, and Detroit Skating Centre, Alexa takes techniques and incorporates them into her own coaching strategies. With stroking and edges being essential to any skater, Alexa has worked with hockey players from the ages of 8 to Professionals in Europe. 




Hayley Zabolotniuk

NCCP Level 1 Certified. CanSkate Coordinator. 7 Years of Coaching Experience. Gold Freeskate, Gold Dance, Gold Skating Skills, and Gold Interpretive. Graduated from the University of Alberta, Completed Bachelor of Education Degree and Bachelor of Kinesiology Degree. Skated with the St. Albert Skating Centre for 12 years. Certified as an AFLCA group exercise specialty leader.
