Fundraising and Volunteer Opportunities: 2017/18

 

Cash Raffle {mandatory fundraising for all levels of skating}

The following amounts will be included on your invoice at the time of the registration:

$25 PreSchool and Adult Programs (5 tickets)

$50 CanSkate (10 tickets)

$75 JumpStart / STAR 1 (15 tickets)

$125 STAR 2 and up Academy (25 tickets)

By mid-September (for the Fall term), and mid-January (for the Winter term), a Fundraising coordinator will provide you with raffle tickets to sell. You will keep the proceeds from sale (as you would have pre-paid for those tickets at the time of the registration).

All ticket stubs need to be returned to the SASC Office no later than November 20, and March 20 respectively. There will be a box labelled "Raffle Tickets" on the book shelf on the left when you enter the office. Please do not remove the staple from the booklet.

Club Competition {mandatory volunteering for JumpStar/STAR 1 skaters and up}

SASC will be hosting Edmonton STARSkate Invitational Competition on November 24-26, 2017. This is a great source of revenue for our club. We are required to staff the competition with volunteers; therefore this is a mandatory commitment from JumpStart / STAR 1 (one 4-hour shift) and Academy (two 4-hour shifts) skaters.

All volunteering sign up for this event will be done through SignUpGenius. Please save the date(s) as the SignUpGenius will be available in September, an email with more details will be sent once positions are available.

Only sign up for your mandatory requirements to give everyone the opportunity to fulfill their obligation.

If extra opportunities become available to earn additional credits, an email will be sent indicating so. Additional credits hold a value of $60 and will be applied towards your next Fall/Winter registration.

 

Bingo {volunteering opportunities for JumpStart / STAR1 level and up}

SASC has partnered with the Kensington Bingo Hall located at 12538 132 Avenue NW Edmonton.

The following Bingo dates have been confirmed and will require a minimum of 16 volunteers per event:

June 25, 2017

August 27, 2017

September 09, 2017

October 08, 2017

November 19, 2017

January 14, 2018

February 25, 2018

March 18, 2018

AGLC requires that the Chair position be filled by a current board member and the controller and paymaster positions must be filled by those with previous experience.

Volunteers for Bingo must be over the age of 14 are we are limited to four volunteers under 18 years of age. All remaining positions will be assigned by the bingo hall staff and Chair at the time of the event.

All volunteers must use Sign Up Genius to register for a volunteer position for Bingo.

 

Office Cleaning {volunteering opportunities for JumpStart / STAR1 level and up}

Once a month (dates are flexible) the SASC office requires a thorough cleaning. Each cleaning shift equals one volunteer shift. A list of cleaning duties and supplies are provided. Cleaning must be completed while coaches are either on the ice or not in the office. Available shifts will be advertised on the SignUpGenius.

 

 

Other Events

Throughout the year, we may require more volunteers to run other club events, but no volunteer credits will be awarded for those:

  • Equipment Swap.
  • Fun Meet
  • Pop Concert

If you want to volunteer at any non-mandatory event, or if you want to work extra shifts above your mandatory requirement, please provide your name and contact information on the Volunteer Sign Up Sheet on the back of the office door.
